WATERVILLE — Bates controlled the boards and got balanced offense to defeat Thomas 85-64 Tuesday night in a men’s basketball game.

Nick Schmiemann had 15 points, Reid Christian scored 14 and Brian Ellis and Mark Brust each added 13 for the Bobcats (3-1), who had a 52-27 rebounding advantage.

Bates made 9 of 23 3-pointers, including four each by Schmiemann and Christian.

Andrew Duncanson led the Terriers (0-3) with 16 points.

 

COLBY 71, UNE 58: Mike Russell had 21 points and 15 rebounds as the White Mules (2-2) handled the Nor’easters (1-6) at Biddeford.

Chas Rentrope had 18 points, five rebounds and four steals for UNE. Marcus Winn added 14 points, including four 3-pointers.

 

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 96, UNITY 37: Paul Holland had 12 points and Ryan Cheney and Joe Jardine each scored 10 as the visiting Seawolves (6-3) routed the Rams (0-5).

(16) GEORGETOWN 111, (9) MISSOURI 102: Jason Clark hit three 3-pointers in overtime, lifting visiting Georgetown (7-0) to a victory over Missouri (5-1), which erased an 18-point halftime deficit but faltered at the free-throw line in the final seconds of regulation.

After Michael Dixon hit 1 of 2 foul shots with 14.1 seconds left to give Missouri a 94-91 lead, Chris Wright’s 3-pointer sent the game to OT.

MEN’S SOCCER

GRAND VIEW 3, UM-FORT KENT 0: The 12th-seeded Vikings outshot the fifth-seeded Bengals 10-0 and advanced to the quarterfinals in the NAIA national championship at Orange Beach, Ala.

Per Poulsen scored the go-ahead goal in the 15th minute for the Vikings (20-1).

David Girouard made seven saves for the Bengals (22-1).
