‘Christmas Carol’  returns to PSC

PORTLAND STAGE COMPANY opens a traditional retelling of the classic Charles Dickens story “A Christmas Carol.” This version remains popular because of the theater company’s commitment to high-end production values and strong acting.

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday; noon Sunday. Runs through Dec. 24.

A wall of words at Museum of Art 

LOOK! UP IN THE SKY! It’s conceptual artist Jenny Holzer’s projection of Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska’s words on the exterior wall of the Portland Museum of Art. The celebrated artist is coming to Maine to deliver a lecture in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Nelson Social Justice Fund at the museum.

WHEN: Lecture at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Holiday Inn by the Bay; followed by projection at the PMA from 7 to 10 p.m.

WHERE: Outside at the Portland Museum of Art; best viewed from Congress Square
