AUGUSTA — Gov. John Baldacci says Democrats and Republicans have worked together for the good of the state when it comes to clean energy.

In his weekly radio address, Baldacci says Maine energy policies have been driven largely by pragmatism and cooperation and it’s paying off by making Mainers more secure, creating jobs and boosting the economy.

Baldacci says federal officials, working with Maine and other states, have revised their regulations to grant permits for offshore energy more quickly. Work’s been done to get cheap Canadian energy into the state.

Baldacci says the time’s over to rely on some of the most dangerous and unstable places in the world to feed the oil-consumption habit.
