WELLS – Theo Bowe scored 17 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, as Cape Elizabeth pulled away to a 60-41 victory against Wells on the opening night of high school basketball Friday.

Cam Brown added 13 points and Henry Babcock had 10 for Cape, which led 42-34 after three quarters before clinching it with an 18-7 run in the fourth.

Alex Furness and Paul McDonough each scored 11 points for the Warriors.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 63, FREEPORT 55: Colby Locke scored 23 points, and Bright Amoako had 17 points and nine assists to lead the Raiders at Fryeburg.

Fryeburg Academy used a 23-13 second-quarter run to open a 34-24 lead.

Chandler Birmingham scored 16 points for Freeport. Kyle Strozewski added 13.

SCARBOROUGH 42, GORHAM 23: Zach Bean scored 16 points as the Red Storm won at Gorham.

Zach Spiers led Gorham with eight points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 62, SACOPEE VALLEY 28: Ryheem Lang and Andrew Fleury each scored 11 points for the Seagulls at South Hiram.

Nate Dow and Jason Dutton each added 10 points for Old Orchard, which used a half-court press to force turnovers and build a 26-6 lead after one quarter.

Jeff Taylor had 14 points, 13 rebounds and four blocked shots for Sacopee.

YORK 64, LAKE REGION 36: Michael King and Aaron Todd scored 18 points apiece for the Wildcats, who held Lake Region to 13 second-half points at York.

Kevin Gilson led Lake Region with 16 points.

FALMOUTH 48, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 30: Alex Cattell finished with 12 points and six rebounds, and Matt Kingry added 11 points to lead the Yachtsmen at Falmouth.

Adam Jensen paced Gray-New Gloucester with 18 points.

Jack Cooleen added six points and nine blocked shots for Falmouth.

SOUTH PORTLAND 53, BIDDEFORD 41: Logan Gaddar and Vukasin Vignjvic each scored 15 points as South Portland won at home.

South Portland outscored Biddeford 14-2 in the second quarter for a 22-9 halftime lead.

The Tigers, behind Robert Cote and Chance Baldino, made a 13-0 run in the third quarter to pull within six. Both players finished with nine points.

WAYNFLETE 41, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 40: Alex Hadiaris had three crucial steals late in the fourth quarter to help Waynflete win at Portland.

Chris Burke led a balanced offense for the Flyers with eight points. Hadiaris, Mitch Newlin, Paul Runyambo and Joe Veroneau added six each.

Andrew Esancy finished with 22 points for NYA.

WISCASSET 70, HALL-DALE 45: Ben Ashton and Jordan Jones scored 16 points each to pace Wiscasset at home.

BRUNSWICK 45, OXFORD HILLS 43: Mitchell Black scored with 3.5 seconds left as Brunswick won at home.

WESTBROOK 45, KENNEBUNK 25: Sean Murphy scored 11 of his game-high 22 points in the first quarter, and the Blue Blazes pulled away at Kennebunk.

With his team leading 25-13 at halftime, Murphy opened the third quarter with two of his five 3-pointers and Westbrook coasted into the fourth with a 39-18 lead.

RICHMOND 45, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 24: Kyle O’Brien had 18 points and eight rebounds, and Mike Christie added 13 points and six steals to lead Richmond at home.

O’Brien scored 12 points in the first half as Richmond grabbed a 26-10 lead.

MT. ARARAT 49, MORSE 20: Josh Walker scored 16 points and the Eagles held the Shipbuilders to single digits in each quarter at Bath.

LEAVITT 56, LINCOLN ACADEMY 40: Lucas Witham scored all 12 of his points in the second quarter as Leavitt used a 28-5 run to open a 37-17 halftime lead at Newcastle.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 65, BOOTHBAY REGION 62: Tim Whitmore scored 22 points and Robby Neal added 21 for the Mustangs at Boothbay Harbor.

Jordan Caron had 17 points, Anthony DiMauro added 16 and Jake Simmons 11 for Boothbay.

CHEVERUS 102, NOBLE 29: Cam Olson had 14 points to lead six Cheverus players in double figures at Portland.

Shawn Grover added 13 points, James Kapothanasis and Lou DiStasio each had 12, and Nick Burns and Malcolm Smith finished with 10 apiece.

YARMOUTH 56, POLAND 43: Mike McCormack had 15 points to lead the Clippers at Poland.

Chris Knaub added 10 points for Yarmouth.

MARSHWOOD 63, SANFORD 56: Tyler Hickey scored 20 points and Matt Crosby chipped in 13 for the Hawks at Sanford.

Marshwood held off a late rally by making 12 of 15 free throws in the fourth quarter, when Hickey was 5 of 5.

GREELY 59, TRAIP ACADEMY 48: Sam Johnston scored 24 points and was 6 of 6 at the line to lead Greely at Kittery.

Nathan Westman paced Traip with 22 points.

WINTHROP 43, LISBON 41: Ryan Conant scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Ramblers at Lisbon Falls.

WINDHAM 60, MASSABESIC 48: Nolan Allen made 17 of 21 free throws and finished with 33 points for Windham at Waterboro.

The Eagles held the Mustangs to four points in the first quarter. Massabesic, led by Ryan Dodge with 16 points and Chris Gahm with 15, got as close as seven in the third.

HOCKEY

BONNY EAGLE 4, WINDHAM 2: Josh Bagley had a goal and an assist in the first 11 minutes as Bonny Eagle took a 2-0 lead and held on at Gorham.

Bagley started the scoring at 7:38, then set up Jason Harmon at 10:56. Owen Phillips answered with eight seconds left in the first period, but Sean Walsh made it 3-1 with a short-handed goal early in the second.
