AUGUSTA — Maine’s Conservation Department says winter camping sites will be available along the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.

Registration for the campgrounds is taking place today at the Chamberlain Bridge ranger station.

The 48 campsites at Chamberlain Bridge and Kellogg Brook will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis until campground capacity is reached.

The Allagash Wilderness Waterway is a 92-mile-long ribbon of lakes, ponds, rivers and streams that winds through northern Maine’s forests.
