More than 2,700 customers in York and Cumberland counties are without power at this hour, but that number has been dropping since a peak outage of more than 3,800 was reported around 9:30 p.m.
Central Maine Power said high winds and rain were contributing factors in the outages.
The National Weather Service in Gray said strong winds and rain are expected to continue throughout the evening and early morning hours.
