STANDISH — Ashley Geel made a key block to help St. Joseph’s hold off Husson for a 47-46 women’s basketball victory on Saturday.

Geel, who had 10 points and 12 rebounds, got her fifth block of the game with two seconds remaining to preserve the win for the Monks (6-3), who were 17 of 20 (85 percent) from the foul line.

Bethany Sevey scored 18 points for the Eagles (2-5).

BOWDOIN 87, MAINE MARITIME 38: Kaitlin Donahoe paced the Polar Bears (7-1) with 14 points, six assists and three steals in a win over the Mariners (3-4) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin had nine players with at least seven points. Jill Henrickson scored 11 with three 3-pointers.

Maggie Smith had 16 points and five rebounds for Maine Maritime.

COLBY 71, UM-PRESQUE ISLE 37: Jill Vaughan had 18 points and nine rebounds as the Mules (6-1) rolled over the Owls (1-5) at Waterville.

Rachael Mack added 12 points and eight rebounds for Colby.

Rashell Saucier led the Owls with 11 points and nine boards.

UNE 87, UM-FARMINGTON 37: Margo Russell scored 17 points, hitting all five of her 3-point attempts, to lead the Nor’easters (6-4) past the Beavers (1-6) at Farmington.

Kari Pelletier and Beth Suggs each added 15 points and Carrie Bunnell had 12 for UNE, which opened with a 12-0 run and made 13 of its first 17 field-goal attempts in the second half.

Jillian Ross scored 16 points for UMF.

USM 65, KEENE STATE 57: Nicole Garland had 14 points with four 3-pointers as the Huskies (4-4) edged the Owls (3-4) at Keene, N.H.

Haley Jordan scored 13 and Renee Nicholas chipped in 12 points, six rebounds and three steals for USM.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

SUFFOLK 77, ST. JOSEPH’S 71: Matt Pepdjonovic scored 29 points and the Rams (4-6, 2-1 GNAC) used a 9-0 run over the final four minutes to defeat the Monks (5-2, 2-1) at Boston.

Trailing 45-38 at halftime, the Monks tied it at 65 with a 10-2 run just prior to Suffolk’s closing run.

Zach O’Brien scored 19 points to lead the Monks. Tyler Kelley added 13 points.

UM-FARMINGTON 66, UNE 51: Andrew Dean scored 17 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Beavers (2-5) downed the visiting Nor’easters (2-8).

Marcus Winn had 19 points and Chas Rentrope and Ryan Knotek each chipped in 12 points for UNE.

BOWDOIN 75, COLBY 68: Will Hanley scored 29 points to lead the Polar Bears (6-2) over the White Mules (4-5) at Brunswick.

Randy DeFeo had 16 points and Maximilian Staiger each added 14 points for Bowdoin.

Christian Van Loenen scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half and also had eight rebounds for Colby.

KEENE STATE 79, USM 78: Derek D’Amours scored 31 points to lead the Owls (8-1, 2-0 Little East) over the Huskies (6-3, 0-2) at Keene, N.H.

Corteze Isaac scored 31 points for the Huskies. Sean Bergeron had 14 points, Devin Chambers added 12 and Otis Smith scored 10.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 2, UNION 1: Dominique Goutsis and Missy Denk scored in the third period and the Black Bears (8-7-4) edged Union (1-14-3) at Orono.

Candice Currier, who allowed a goal with eight seconds left, finished with 21 saves.

UMASS-BOSTON 2, COLBY 1: Alli Greenberg and Lauren Duran scored second-period goals to lead the Beacons (4-5) past the Mules (2-6) at Boston.
Kathryn Shei scored for Colby.

MEN’S HOCKEY

USM 3, UNE 0: The Huskies (4-4-1) scored in each period and Braely Torris made 25 saves to shut out the Nor’easters (1-6) at Gorham.

Mike Roper made 34 saves for UNE, giving up goals by Zach Joy, Dustin Rider and Jon Rutt.

BOWDOIN 6, COLBY 5: Brendan Reich scored with 18.4 seconds left as the Polar Bears (6-1) overcame a 5-1 second-period deficit to beat the Mules (2-5-1) at Waterville.
Jeff Fanning got the tying goal for Bowdoin with 5:31 left.
