PORTLAND — Power has been restored in the Morrills’ Corner, Stevens Avenue and Allen Avenue areas following an outage this morning.

The 7 a.m. outage was caused by a downed power line, officials said.

The outage snarled traffic and caused some schools to be canceled along Stevens Avenue.

Public schools on Stevens Avenue and Allen Avenue areas – representing about half of the students in the system – were not canceled because students were already being collected on bus routes and the buildings were not too cold, said Superintendent James Morse.

At Catherine McAley High School, students were dismissed because it was uncertain when power would be restored, a school official said.

Power was restored at about 9 a.m.
