A 26-year-old Hiram man died following a motor vehicle accident late Friday on Route 5.
Michael Chick was behind the wheel of 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee when his vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch. Chick lost control, and the vehicle slammed into a telephone pole and came to a stop in a stand of trees.
He was the lone occupant.
Road conditions were clear and dry at the time of accident, police said.
