WEST LEBANON — Early this morning, crews from Lebanon Rescue Department responded to an accident in front of 84 North Rochester Road.

The accident was reported shortly after 1 a.m. and crews arrived on the scene to find a 2004 GMC Canyon pickup truck that had left the road and knocked down a utility pole. The driver had left the scene on foot, authorities said.

The road was closed to traffic because the pole was blocking most of the road. Crews from Central Maine Power were called to the scene, which was cleared shortly after 3 a.m., Assistant Chief Jason Cole said.

Officials attempted to follow tracks in the snow to locate the driver, but were unsuccessful, Cole said. The truck was towed from the scene and the Maine State Police are investigating.
