The Gorham Town Council took no action after a special meeting scheduled to evaluate the performance of Town Clerk Christina Silberman on Tuesday.

The council and town attorney William Dale met with Silberman behind closed doors for two-and-a-half hours.

“It was nothing more than an evaluation,” said David Cole, Gorham town manager.

Cole said he did not anticipate any more action by the town council on the matter. He declined to comment on the evaluation, which in years past has been conducted in the spring. Both Cole and Silberman are employees of the town council.

Silberman declined to comment. She was hired as town clerk in March, 2005, after working as deputy clerk in Falmouth for 10 years.

Council chairman Matthew Robinson did not respond to phone and e-mail messages.  Councilor Michael Phinney described the evaluation as thorough.

“When you have a review some things are positive and some things are negative,” Phinney said.

Phinney said he expected the council to follow up the evaluation with another meeting with Silberman in April.
