Bill battle begets blows

1/1 at 1:20 a.m. Police happened upon a dispute between three or four people in the parking lot of a Broadway restaurant. One of the patrons was ejected from the restaurant following an argument over the bill. A fight then broke out between the patron and an employee, who was treated at a local hospital. Kevin Richards, 22, of South Portland, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

Jewelry stolen on Sterling Ave.

1/2 Police are investigating a residential burglary that took place on Sterling Avenue. Police said the burglar, who did not appear to have forced his way into the home, stole an undisclosed amount jewelry. No more details were provided.

Nowhere to hide

1/4 at 3:45 p.m. Police were called to the Maine Mall for a shoplifting report where a man allegedly ran out of the store with $150 worth of clothing. A woman seen with the man was located in the parking lot, and police reportedly found the suspect hiding in her car. Bobbi Turner, 29, of Portland, was arrested on charges of theft and hindering apprehension, and Roger Turner, 28, of Portland, was arrested on a charge of theft and on a warrant.

‘Borrowed’ furniture recovered

1/6 Police investigated a reported theft of two chairs and a dresser from a residence at MacArthur Circle. Police located the furniture and returned it to the owner. No charges were filed, as police believe the items were “borrowed.”
