ORONO — The University of Maine baseball team has been selected No. 2 in a preseason America East coaches’ poll, behind defending champion Stony Brook.
In the poll released Monday, Maine was followed by Binghamton, Albany, Hartford and UMBC.
The 2011 America East Baseball Championship, a four-team double-elimination format, will be held at the field of the top seed May 25-27. The winner will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships.
Maine was 34-22 last year and finished second in conference play with a 17-7 record.
