FREEPORT — The Historical Society will present “Greeting from the Heart,” an illustrated presentation on the establishment of the valentine industry in the U.S.

On Sunday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m., William D. Wallace, executive director of the Worcester, Mass., Historical Museum, will discuss Esther Howland, a Worcester native who started the valentine industry in this country around 1847. Wallace will also discuss Jotham Taft, who was also known for making valentines in the early 1840s. 

There will also be a selection of early valentines and love letters on display at the Harrington House at 45 Main St. There is a $5 suggested donation and beverages and snacks will be available.
