SACO – Andrew Shaw scored 26 points Thursday night as Thornton Academy closed the regular season by going to double overtime before beating Biddeford 72-70 in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game.

Corbett Smith and Josh Woodward each added 16 points for Thornton (15-3), which led 37-28 after three quarters.

Robert Cote of Biddeford (8-10) scored nine of his 24 points in the fourth quarter, including a baseline 3-pointer to tie it at the end of regulation.

Chance Baldino chipped in eight of his 21 points in the fourth. Patrick Wilson had 10 points.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 71, A.R. GOULD 49: Ryheem Lang scored 15 points and Ryan Gallant had 14 for the Seagulls (12-4), who pulled away from the Bears (10-7) in the second half at South Portland.

Nate Dow added eight points and 13 boards for Old Orchard, which used an 18-7 run in the third period to open a 57-40 lead. Jason Dutton scored five and Lang had four in the quarter.

BRUNSWICK 58, MORSE 21: Alex Ouellette scored 12 points and Brad Smith added 10 as the Dragons (9-9) handled the Shipbuilders (0-18) at Brunswick.

GREELY 65, LAKE REGION 29: Sam Johnston scored 12 points, and Liam Maker and Tanner Storey each chipped in 10 for the Rangers (16-2) against the Lakers (5-13) at Naples.

The Rangers led 14-12 after one quarter, then outscored the Lakers by at least 10 in each of the final three.

YORK 75, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 50: Aaron Todd scored 18 points and Liam Langaas added 16 for the Wildcats (14-4), who took a 24-16 first-quarter lead and went on to beat the Raiders (3-15) at York.

SACOPEE VALLEY 49, BUCKFIELD 40: Ryan Morse scored 11 of his 19 points as the Hawks (3-14) took a 29-14 second-quarter lead against the Bucks (6-14) at South Hiram.

BOOTHBAY REGION 54, WISCASSET 47: Anthony DiMauro scored eight of his 12 points during a 25-18 fourth quarter as the Seahawks (15-3) stopped Wiscasset (14-4) at Boothbay Harbor.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 55, POLAND 41: Andrew Esancy scored 11 of his 22 points during a 16-8 fourth quarter as the Panthers (7-11) pulled away to defeat the Knights (7-11) at Poland.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 75, LINCOLN ACADEMY 49: John Murray had 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Panthers (14-4) past the Eagles (9-9) at Waldoboro.

OXFORD HILLS 60, MT. ARARAT 43: Dan Taylor scored 19 of his career-high 27 points in the first half as the Vikings (7-11) got out to a 29-14 lead against the Eagles (10-8) at South Paris.

HOCKEY

MARSHWOOD-TRAIP ACADEMY 4, CHEVERUS 1: Andrew Rollins finished with two goals and an assist, and Aaron Gootee added a goal and two assists to lead the Hawks (12-2) past the Stags (9-5) at Portland.

DEERING 2, GORHAM 1: Griffin Py scored both goals, including the winner in overtime, for Deering (7-8) against Gorham (5-9) at Portland.

SOUTH PORTLAND 7, PORTLAND 0: Cole Rowland and D.J. Conley each scored twice as the Red Riots (6-6-2) dominated the Bulldogs (5-10) at Portland.
