WISCASSET — Firefighters are still investigating a fire at 64 Old Sheepscot Rd. that heavily damaged a two-story home Friday night.

The emergency call came into the Wiscasset Fire Department around 7 p.m. Friday. By the time firefighters arrived on the scene, the blaze, which had started in an attached two-car garage, had already spread to the house, according to Wiscasset Fire Chief Rob Bickford.

Firefighters from 10 neighboring towns responded to battle the heavy fire and smoke in icy and below-freezing conditions. Also assisting were the Wiscasset EMS, the Wiscasset Police Department and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The home sustained a heavy amount of fire damage, but there were no injuries to either the residents or firefighters. The occupants of the house are staying with friends in the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Bickford said, but it is not considered suspicious.
