FORT MYERS, Fla. — Red Sox pitchers and catchers had their first official workout today, and Josh Beckett sees 2011 as a new start and a chance to pitch to his usual level.

The Boston Red Sox right-hander began last season as the ace of a promising rotation. But he spent two months on the disabled list with a back injury and finished the 2010 season with a 6-6 record and a 5.78 ERA.

Beckett says that if the starters remain healthy, the sky’s the limit for a rotation that also includes Jon Lester, Clay Buchholz, John Lackey and Daisuke Matsuzaka.
