The Freeport boys and the Fort Kent girls both came from behind on the final day of competition to win Class C ski titles Thursday at the Rangeley Lakes Trails Center.

More than 200 miles away at the Nordic Heritage Center in Presque Isle, Mt. Blue claimed its seventh straight girls’ and fifth straight boys’ Class A titles as three days of Alpine and Nordic skiing came to a close.

Silas Eastman of Fryeburg Academy, Hannah Allen of Mt. Blue, Camden Regan of North Yarmouth Academy and Zoe Chace-Donahue of Merriconeag each won a Nordic classic individual title Thursday. Eastman and Chace-Donahue also won Nordic freestyle titles Tuesday, when Regan was 10th and Allen second to teammates Ian Moore and Emily Ramsey, respectively.

Thursday’s classic race also decided Nordic team championships. In Class C, Zoe and Emelie Chace-Donahue led a 1-2-4-7 finish along with Teagan Wu and Carlin Tindall to give Merriconeag only the second state title in the New Gloucester school’s young history, after a cross country crown this fall.

Merriconeag’s girls finished with a two-event score of 35 to beat runner-up Fort Kent’s 53. Freeport was third at 138, followed by Waynflete (152) and six other schools.

For Class C boys, Regan and Moore led a 1-2-6-9 showing with Robert Field and Evan Kendall to give NYA the Nordic title over Freeport, 49-86. Fort Kent was third at 120 followed by Merriconeag (156), Waynflete (188) and seven other schools.

In Class A, the Eastman brothers, Silas and Seth, placed first and third to extend an 11-point lead after freestyle for Fryeburg Academy and give the Raiders the Nordic title with 57 points. Mt. Blue overcame a two-point deficit to edge Oxford Hills for second place, 84-89, followed by Greely (160), Leavitt (191), Edward Little (229), Deering (242), Hampden Academy (250) and Portland (283).

Mt. Blue won the girls’ Nordic title 52-72 over Edward Little followed by Leavitt (86), Portland (121), Oxford Hills (187), Greely (231), Fryeburg Academy (266) and Hampden Academy (315).

In the overall competition, Freeport entered Thursday’s culminating classic race trailing Fort Kent by six points in Class C boys. Scott Ross (fourth), Maxwell Jennings (10th), Spencer Egan (15th) and Alex Sturtevant (16th) led Freeport to a 45-68 advantage over Fort Kent in classic, and that was enough to push the Falcons to the overall title, 225-242. Telstar was third at 402 and Livermore Falls fourth at 586.

In Class C girls’ overall competition, Fort Kent made up a 15-point deficit to Freeport with a 29-72 advantage in classic to win the combined title, 144-172. John Bapst was third at 541.

In skimeister competition, Greely freshman Elyse Dinan compiled 73 points to win among Class A girls. Ethan Burke of Hampden Academy finished eighth or better in all four events to win among Class A boys.

In Class C, Fort Kent dominated, with Roxanne Pelletier and Logan Doak taking top honors.
