BRUNSWICK — Robert Albert Wilson, 80, died Feb. 22 at his home following a long illness.

A son of the Albert J. and Winifred M. (Collins) Wilson, he was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was educated in Brooklyn schools.

In 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for four years during the Korean War.

For more than 40 years he worked as a pressman at J.H. French & Sons Printing of Brunswick.

Known locally as the “rhubarb king,” he loved tending to his large gardens and sold rhubarb from his home.

Survivors include his wife Marie A. (Caron) Wilson of Brunswick; six children, Robert A. Wilson, Jr., and his wife Lori of Gardiner, Marie and her husband Gary Brooks, Shirley Dionne, Mary Kim and her husband Kerry Carter, and Patricia Wilson, all of Brunswick, and Gail and her husband Scott Miller of Phippsburg; a sister, Gertrude Steiger of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a brother, Albert J. Wilson, Jr., of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held earlier this week.

Arrangements are by Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick.
