Jazz brunch

• Grammy Award-winning pianist Paul Sullivan performs at the Jazz Breakfast from 10:30 a.m. to noon today in the cafe at the Portland Museum of Art. The concert is free with museum admission, and breakfast is available for purchase. Rosie Upton, a vocalist with whom Sullivan has collaborated the last couple of years, will join him for a few tunes. Visit www.portlandmuseum.org for info. 

Tuesday Classical

• Guest conductor Eckart Preu leads the Portland Symphony Orchestra in a program featuring Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, with guest soloist Tai Murray, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Merrill Auditorium, Portland. Murray, a rising star, received an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2004. Murray’s current season includes appearances with the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Philharmonic Staatsorchester Mainz and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

Preu, born in the former East Germany, is music director of the Spokane Symphony and the Stamford Symphony.

There will be an open dress rehearsal at 7 p.m. Monday. Rehearsal tickets are free but space is limited. Call 773-6128. Concert tickets range from $17 to $70 and are available through PortTix at 842-0800 or www.porttix.com

USM theater

The University of Southern Maine Department of Theatre and School of Music present “Triumph of Love,” a musical romance in disguise, directed by Assunta Kent with musical direction by Edward Reichert.

Performances are at 7:30 p.m. March 11-12 and 17-19, and at 5 p.m. March 13, 16 and 20 in the Russell Hall auditorium on the Gorham campus.
