MONTPELIER, Vt. — Think your ratty old Converse high-tops are bad? There’s a contest for that.
Eight young people from age 9 to 13 competed today to see who’s got the worst old sneakers in a contest in the 36th National Odor-Eaters Rotten Sneaker Contest.

The competitors had their sneakers judged on the conditions of the sole, tongue, heel, toe, laces, eyelets and odor.
The winner was Sterling Brinkerhoff, 9, from Benjamin, Utah. He won $2,500.
