PORTLAND — John McCarthy scored 16 seconds into overtime to lift Worcester into a 5-4 victory over the Portland Pirates during the annual School Day game today at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The visiting Sharks rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to keep the Pirates from clinching a playoff berth.
Corey Tropp, Derek Whitmore, Dennis McCauley and Paul Byron scored goals for Portland, while Patrick Davis, Dan DaSilva, Rick Schaus and Joe Poprieno scored for Worcester.
