Gorham and Yarmouth high schools were both first-place winners in the finals of the Maine Drama Festival this weekend.

Gorham students’ performance of “The Elephant’s Graveyard” earned the Class A title, and Yarmouth students won in Class B for “The Elephant Man.”

Eight schools competed in the final round of the Class A competition at Camden Hills Regional High School. In the Class B finals, nine schools competed at Rockland High School.

Other area schools in the finals were, in Class A, Falmouth and Westbrook high schools, which took third and seventh place, respectively. In Class B, Catherine McAuley placed fifth and Freeport High School tied for seventh place with Fort Kent.
