SANFORD — Goodall Hospital has named a new president and chief executive officer.

The hospital’s Board of Trustees announced today it has appointed Patricia “Patsy” Aprile to take the hospitals’ top job on June 1.

Aprile has been vice president of operations at Goodall for the past six years, running the day-to-day operations and overseeing multiple building and expansion projects.

“Patsy has been instrumental in Goodall Hospital’s growth and development,” said Mark Mickeriz, chairman of the hospital’s Board of Trustees and president of Sanford Institution for Savings.

Aprile joined Goodall in May 2005 after serving as an executive director at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H. She was responsible for the development of the Goodall campus in Sanford and its expansion into Waterboro and Kennebunk. Under her direction, Goodall has completed four major building projects on time and on budget, attained accreditation and built a culture of discipline and regulatory compliance, according to the hospital.

Aprile said her primary focus will be to continue discussions with MaineHealth looking for collaborative ways of serving the residents of York County.  She and her husband live in York and have two grown sons.

Aprile will replace CEO Darlene Stromstad, who has accepted the CEO position of Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, Conn.
