BIDDEFORD — The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office says it’ll be a few more days before the pilot of a plane that crashed in Biddeford is positively identified.

The pilot’s body was burned after his twin-engine Cessna clipped a tree and crashed into a house, setting off a fire that destroyed the house and the airplane Sunday night. David King, an investigator with the Medical Examiner’s Office, said Monday DNA tests will be used to positively identify the victim.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety says officials believe they know the pilot’s name but are awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner.

Investigators say the pilot was flying from White Plains, N.Y., just north of New York City, to Biddeford to take on a passenger when the plane crashed.
