Additional Yarmouth All-Academic team members

Several Yarmouth High athletes made their respective Senior All-Academic teams this winter, in addition to those listed a couple weeks ago. That list includes Smythe Eddy and Natalie Salmon from Alpine skiing, Cotter Jackson, Joey King and Ben Nickerson from boys’ ice hockey and Julie Dursema, Lindsey Purpura and Anne Ryan from girls’ indoor track.

Local players named to boys’ hockey all-state team

Falmouth defenseman Matt MacDowell was named to the Class A All-State, West region first team.  Falmouth forward Brandon Tuttle and defenseman Jack Pike were second team selections. Ben Freeman, Jay Hurdman and Dane Pauls were honorable mentions. The All-Academic team included MacDowell.

Pitch, Hit and Run competition coming to Freeport

The Aquafina Pitch, Hit and Run competition, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball, will be held Sunday, May 8 at 12 p.m. (registration is at 11:30 a.m.) at Freeport Middle School. The free competition is for boys and girls, ages 7-14. The winners advance to the Sectionals and ultimately, Nationals and will have a chance to play during All-Star Weekend in July. FMI, 865-6171.
