“(The U. Maine coach) made me want to go there,” said Norton, who plans to study Elementary Education. “She really cared. I’m close with my family since I’m an only child and it’s really a family friendly program.”
Norton, South Portland’s Spring 2010 Female Athlete of the Year, after leading the program to its first Class A championship, is a superb hitter. She’s a catcher by trade, but expects to move around at the next level.
“Katlin will be fine,” Aceto said. “She’ll find a spot. She’s one of the top hitters in the state. They can put her anywhere. You could tell back in Little League she had a real commitment to softball.”
