AUGUSTA — The fishing boat captain profiled in the best-selling book “The Perfect Storm,” and a historian who’s written a dozen books are slated to address graduates at two University of Maine System commencements next month.

Swordfishing boat captain Linda Greenlaw, who’s written four books of her own about commercial fishing, will speak at May 14 ceremonies at the University of Southern Maine in Portland. Greenlaw is to receive an honorary doctor of humane letters degree.

Also on May 14, Maine historian and author Neil Rolde will speak to University of Maine at Augusta graduates. Rolde was also long active in Maine government and politics.

About 600 UMA students, including some from the Bangor campus and nine University College Centers, will receive associate and baccalaureate degrees.
