SOUTH PORTLAND — Norman L. Parrott, 61, died April 20 surrounded by his loving family at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House following a lengthy illness.

Born in Portland, the son of Norman H. and Lois Libby Parrott, he moved to Long Island, N.Y. as a child, where he was educated and graduated from Garden City High School in 1968.

After he attended Utica College, he joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and served in Stuttgart, Germany, until he was honorably discharged in 1974.

He worked for Fogg and Jordan and Kris-Way Trucking before becoming a truck driver for Hannaford Bros., where he worked for 20 years until retiring.

On March 24, 1984, he married Maureen Maheu.

He was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Bruce D. Parrott, in 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Maureen Maheu of South Portland; daughter Danielle L. Parrott of Philadelphia, Penn., and son Karl A. Parrott of Portland; sister Leslie Dempsey and husband Daniel of Apopka, Fla., three nieces and four nephews; and many loving extended family members and friends.

Memorial services were held last weekend.

Arrangements are by Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
