AUGUSTA — The agency that oversees casino gambling is considering the nomination of a new executive director.
At its meeting today in Augusta, the state Gambling Control Board will consider a nomination put forth by Public Safety Commissioner John Morris.
The new director will succeed Robert Welch, who was hired as the first executive director in 2004. The board was created when voters approved a referendum allowing slot machines in Bangor.
Welch resigned last month to become deputy chief at the University of Maine Police Department in Orono.
