DOVER-FOXCROFT — An animal control officer in Maine says he’s irate about farm animal carcasses that are being dumped along roadsides in Piscataquis County.

Joseph Guyotte, who serves as the animal control officer for several Piscataquis County towns, tells the Bangor Daily News that he responded to calls this week about two dead sheep in Dover-Foxcroft and a dozen lambs in Medford. Two weeks ago, he picked up the carcasses of four calves that somebody discarded in Sebec.

Guyotte says he thinks the animals may have been stillborn or sick, but he’s angry about how they were disposed of.

He says farmers with dead animals should be burying them, not dumping them in the woods.
