WINTERPORT — Maine law enforcement officials say a body was found outside as firefighters arrived to battle a church fire in the town of Winterport.

Steve McCausland of the Maine Department of Public Safety says the man’s body was found outside the church, which caught fire late this morning.

He says officials aren’t speculating on how the man died.

Firefighters were still battling the blaze at noon at Calvary Apostolic Church, and a team of fire marshal investigators was on the scene on U.S. Route 1-A.
