PROVIDENCE, R.I. – All-American Molly Rothbun allowed five hits as top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State defeated sixth-seeded St. Joseph’s 5-1 in a winners’ bracket game today in the NCAA Division III New England Regional at Rhode Island College.
As a result, the Monks (37-9) will play a losers’ bracket game at 10 a.m. Sunday against the winner of the last game on today’s schedule between Rhode Island College and the Coast Guard Academy.
The Warriors (33-4) scored three first-inning runs against losing pitcher Maddie Kluna and added single runs in the second and sixth.
The Monks scored their run in the third on Connie Gravo’s double.
