DOVER-FOXCROFT — A Dover-Foxcroft man accused of shooting his brother in the head and killing him is due in court.

Twenty-year-old Steven Mayo is scheduled to make his initial appearance today in Piscataquis County Superior Court. Mayo is charged with murder.

The medical examiner’s office says his brother, 20-year-old Ryan Mayo, died from a single gunshot wound to the head on May 1. Ryan Mayo lived with his parents; Steven Mayo lived next door.

Maine Public Safety Department Steve McCausland says detectives consulted with the attorney general and medical examiner’s office about statements and evidence before making the arrest. He says Steven Mayo was arrested without incident at his home Thursday.
