WESTBROOK – Westbrook scored five times in the fifth inning and remained unbeaten with an 8-1 win over Biddeford in an SMAA baseball game Friday.

Sean Murphy (4-0) scattered six hits in six innings, and Zach Gardiner and Sam Stauble each hit a two-run single during the fifth inning for the Blue Blazes (10-0).

Murphy struck out two and walked none before being relieved by Keenan Lowe, who retired the side in the seventh.

Chris Jones and Nick Gagne each had two hits for the Tigers (7-3).

 

DEERING 12, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Jamie Ross threw a five-inning three-hitter as the Rams (9-1) defeated the Trojans (6-5) at Saco.

Ross stuck out seven and allowed just three hits and one walk.

Nick DiBiase had four RBI, Matt Bevilacqua drove in three, and John Hardy had three hits and two RBI.

 

CHEVERUS 8, PORTLAND 0: Louie DiStasio struck out 12 while holding the Bulldogs (4-6) to one hit as Cheverus (10-1) earned a win at Old Orchard Beach.

Joey Royer led the Stags with four doubles and two RBI. Nic Lops and Jack Bushey each added three hits and two RBI.

GREELY 11, POLAND 1: Bailey Train threw a five-inning no-hitter to lead the Rangers (11-1) over the Knights (3-10) at Cumberland.

Train (4-0), a freshman, stuck out seven, walked one and hit a batter.

Matt Labbe had an RBI double and scored twice, and Dan McKersie had an RBI and a run.

 

FALMOUTH 8, CAPE ELIZABETH 3: Dylan Dresser scattered seven hits and Ryan MacDonald hit a two-run homer as the Yachtsmen (6-5) beat the Capers (9-3) at Cape Elizabeth.

Andrew Emple put the Yachtsmen ahead with an RBI double in the second inning. Drew Proctor made it 3-0 with a two-run double in the third.

YARMOUTH 3, FREEPORT 1: Aidan Sullivan hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth as the Clippers (10-2) edged the Falcons (3-9) at Yarmouth.

Chris Libby hit an RBI single for Freeport in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Yarmouth tied the game in the sixth when Campbell Haley stole third and scored on an error.

 

WAYNFLETE 7, TRAIP ACADEMY 5: Freshman Joey Schnier won his first varsity start and Noah Aronson executed two squeeze bunts as the Flyers (6-1) beat the Rangers (7-6) at Portland.

Aronson also stole two bases.

Cole Kuehl homered for Traip.

 

WELLS 8, YORK 2: Brandon Pridham had an RBI single and scored during a four-run fourth inning and also pitched a five-hitter to lead the Warriors (7-4) past the Wildcats (6-5) at Wells.

Devin Merritt’s RBI single helped York take a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Wells went ahead for good with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Josh Ingalls singled home a run, Joey Spinelli followed with a two-run single, and Paul McDonough added another RBI single.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 9, SACOPEE VALLEY 2: Andrew Rascoe had three hits and scored two runs as the Raiders (2-11) beat the Hawks (0-11) at Fryeburg.

Four Fryeburg pitchers combined for 13 strikeouts while allowing just three hits.

 

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 17, LAKE REGION 11: Ryan Cavallaro went 5 for 5 with five RBI as Gray-New Gloucester (6-6) downed Lake Region (4-7) at Gray.

Cavallaro hit a solo homer in the third inning and also doubled twice.

The Patriots took a 7-1 lead in the first inning, aided by Austin Keenan’s two-run single.

Danny Place had two doubles and a single for Lake Region.

 

GEORGES VALLEY 4, LISBON 2: Alex Wallace had an RBI single and also scored as the Buccaneers (3-6) opened a 4-0 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fifth against Lisbon (3-8) at Thomaston.

Georges Valley took a 1-0 lead in the first when Ben Wallace doubled and was singled home by Dylan Maloney. Alex Wallace’s fifth-inning single made it 2-0. Drew Townsend singled home another run and scored on an overthrow.

The Greyhounds pulled close in the seventh on Ryan Riordan’s triple and RBI doubles by Alex Corey and Nick Dingley.

ROCKLAND 17, MEDOMAK VALLEY 1: Luke Morrill struck out eight while allowing just two hits during a five-inning victory by the Tigers (9-3) over Medomak Valley (6-4) at Rockland.

Morrill scored four times, reaching base on a triple, a double, a single and an intentional walk.

LACROSSE

KENNEBUNK 9, THORNTON ACADEMY 8: Max Meserve scored five goals as the Rams (6-3) edged the Trojans (6-3) at Kennebunk.

Clayton Sprang added a goal and an assist for Kennebunk. Sean Finn, Blake Dowe and Pat Rimmer also scored.

Thornton was paced by Nate Colpitts with three goals.

CHEVERUS 10, WINDHAM 2: Brent Green scored three times as the Stags (3-5) cruised past the Eagles (3-6) at Portland.

Steve Ambrose, Spencer Amberson and Evan Jendrasko each had two goals for Chev- erus.

Nick Penna and Daniel St. Peter scored for Windham.

 

FALMOUTH 17, YARMOUTH 0: Nick Bachman had four goals to lead the Yachtsmen (8-1) to a win over the Clippers (5-4) at Falmouth.

Brendan McDonnell finished with two goals and three assists, and Will Sipperly had three goals and two assists. Falmouth goalie Cam Bell recorded five saves for the shutout.

 

CAPE ELIZABETH 15, NYA 2: Teddy Smith scored four goals to pace the Capers (6-2) over the Panthers (4-5) at Yarmouth.

Tim LaVallee added three goals and Jack Roos made 10 saves.

 

GREELY 15, LAKE REGION 2: Matti Oberg had a goal and an assist and Nick Robinson made three saves as the Rangers (7-3) routed the visiting Lakers (2-7) at Cumberland.

DEERING 8, PORTLAND 4: Zach Poulin had three goals as the Rams (9-1) defeated the Bulldogs (8-2) at Deering.

Anthony Verville added two goals for Deering, which led 3-2 at halftime.

Portland goalie Ryan Jurgelevich had 20 saves.
