BANGOR — Jurors are deliberating the fate of a 32-year-old man charged with killing a husband and wife in their remote northern Maine home.

Attorneys for the prosecution and for Nathaneal Nightingale presented closing arguments today in Bangor. Nightingale, of Burlington, is charged with fatally shooting Michael Miller Sr. and his wife, Valerie Miller, at their Webster Plantation home on Nov. 28, 2009.

During the trial, jurors heard a recording of Nightingale confessing to shooting the pair after going to their home to pawn a handgun.

The Bangor Daily News reported that Assistant District Attorney Andrew Benson told jurors the evidence against Nightingale is “overwhelming.”

Defense attorney Jeffrey Silverstein said Nightingale confessed only after being hounded by hours of interrogation, and that there was no direct evidence against his client.
