WOODLAND — Officials say a Maine State Police trooper received minor injuries when he hit a moose with his cruiser while responding to a call to assist another trooper.

Police say the moose stepped in front of a cruiser driven by Trooper Chuck Michaud at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 228 in Woodland.

Michaud was taken by ambulance to the Cary Medical Center in Caribou.

The Bangor Daily News says Michaud was treated and released.

The cruiser sustained major damage.
