BRUNSWICK — Teachers are getting a nearly $231,000 raise, but they are giving up almost that much in other parts of next year’s contract.

The agreement was expected to be finalized at Wednesday’s School Board meeting.

The contract calls for a 1.85 percent raise for all pay grades. At the low end, a new teacher without experience will receive almost $31,000. A teacher with 24 years of experience, a master’s degree and a certificate of advanced study would get $68,000. Benefits, and stipends for coaching or other extra-curricular activities would be added.

The teachers gave up one paid teaching day, valued at $70,000, and $162,000 of compensation for courses taken towards their master’s degrees.
