AUGUSTA  — Maine state police are honoring several people who assisted investigators following the death of a Texas boy as well as troopers during a ceremony in Augusta.

The state police awards ceremony today is aimed at honoring law enforcement officers. During the ceremony, the department will name its Trooper of the Year.

State police also will honor several citizens who assisted in the investigation into the death of Camden Hughes, whose body was found last month in South Berwick. Based on a tip, police eventually located the boy’s mother in Massachusetts, where she was arrested.

Julianne McCrery of Irving, Texas, is being held without bail on a murder charge in New Hampshire, where investigators say the boy died.
