PORTLAND – Marketing and public relations firm Bright Matter has been acquired by Fuseideas, a Somerville, Mass.-based advertising and marketing firm, for an undisclosed sum.

A news release said Portland-based Bright Matter will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Fuseideas and operate under the name Fuseideas — Maine.

The deal, which is expected to be complete by the end of the month, will give Fuseideas greater access to northern New England.

“This is an important step in our expansion plan, and having offices in Maine is key to bringing innovative and exciting new marketing and interactive solutions to companies and organizations in Maine and northern New England,” said Fuseideas President and CEO Dennis Franczak.

Bright Matter principal Steven Mason could not be immediately reached for comment.

The release said Mason will be managing director of Fuseideas — Maine and Doug Campbell, also a Bright Matter principal, will be senior art director.
