Members of Portland’s police and fire departments help to unfurl the gargantuan Patriot Flag as it’s raised by two ladder trucks at the Back Cove parking lot along Preble Street Extension on Thursday afternoon.

The Sept. 11 commemorative banner, which measures 30 feet by 57 feet, was making a stop in Maine as part of a 50-state tour in advance of the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 2001.

From here, it is expected to head south to New Hampshire.
