PORTLAND — More than 3,000 homes in Portland’s West End neighborhood lost power tonight after a tree fell on electrical wires.

Central Maine Power Company said the outage occurred around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, knocking out power to 3,100 customers between Congress and Danforth streets.

Crews are working to restore electrical service, but it may take another hour or two before power can be turned back on.
