CUMBERLAND – Liam Pakulski pitched a two-hitter with eight strikeouts and had two hits with an RBI to lead Cumberland (5-10) to an 8-1 victory over Falmouth (2-15) in Junior Legion baseball on Thursday afternoon.

Mike McDevitt also had two hits and an RBI, and Jon Dunnett hit an RBI triple for Cumberland, which scored three runs in the first and third innings.

SEACOAST LAW & TITLE 9, OA-YARMOUTH 6: Cody Champagne hit two doubles and drove in three runs as visiting Seacoast Law & Title (16-1) downed Orthopaedic Associates-Yarmouth (11-6).

Nick Lainey hit a single, double and triple, Matt Highland had two singles and a double, and Caleb Uhl had a single and a triple for OA-Yarmouth.

WINDHAM 12, FREEPORT MEDICAL CENTER 4: Joey Francoeur held Freeport Medical Center (7-10) to five hits over the first six innings, and also stroked a two-run single during for Windham (16-1) in Freeport.

Jack Herzig had three for Windham, 13 hits, including a double and a triple. Herzig scored three times and drove home three others.

KENNEBUNK 4, SMITH-TOBEY 3: Tim Gorton and Robbie Burns hit RBI singles as Kennebunk (14-3) scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to edge Smith-Tobey (10-7) in Kennebunk.

Ben Lary scored the tying run on Gorton’s bunt single.

Brandon Guevin ended the game when he scored on Burns’ hit.

FIRST TITLE OF MAINE 7, LIBBY-MITCHELL 1: Brad Carney struck out 14 while allowing one hit and no earned runs as First Title (9-8) beat Libby-Mitchell (6-11) in Scarborough.


NEW BEDFORD 9, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Brett Botsford had three hits with three RBI as the Bay Sox (14-17) handled the Raging Tide (7-28) at New Bedford, Mass.

Billy Bereszniewicz and Mike Fransoso each had three hits and Tim Quinn had two hits and drove in both runs for OOB.


WESTBROOK 2, MIDCOAST 1: Derek Bouchard struck out 12 as Westbrook defeated Midcoast in a state tournament game in Westbrook.

Bouchard also scored the winning run, scoring on Alec Hazelwood’s seventh-inning single to right.

Caleb McFarland had a double and Sam Perry an RBI single for Midcoast.

APPLE VALLEY 4, FRANKLIN COUNTY 2: Josh Bunker’s complete-game four-hitter paced Apple Valley to a state tournament win in Westbrook.

Kyle Fletcher and Tyler Hutchinson were repeat hitters for Apple Valley. Chad Luker had a single and a double for Franklin County.


AUBURN SUBURBAN 13, PORTLAND 7: Llwellyn Jensen pitched a complete game six-hitter to lead Auburn Suburban past Portland in the opening game of the Babe Ruth state tournament for 13-year-olds in Harrison.

Brandon Varney, with a single and a triple, and Drew Lashua, with a single and a double, led Auburn. Patrick Viola had a double for Portland.

SOUTHERN YORK 10, TRI-COUNTRY NORTH 6: Charlie Bell pitched and batted Southern York to victory during state tournament play in Harrison.

Bell struck out 10 while limiting Tri-County North to six hits. Bell also hit a single and a double and drove home a run.

Zack Doyon had a pair of RBI for Southern York; Dylan Gagner contributed a triple, and Spencer Diesler a double.
