NEWPORT – The funeral for Army Pfc. Tyler M. Springmann, the 19-year-old soldier from Hartland who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on Sunday, will be held at 11 a.m. July 29 at the high school where he graduated.

Springmann, a 2010 graduate of Nokomis Regional High School, died while patrolling in Kandahar province.

Ben Martin of Hartland, Springmann’s stepfather, said the funeral will be held in the school gym to accommodate a large crowd. He said Springmann will be buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
