PORTLAND — The Portland Public Library’s Riverton Branch will be closed Aug. 5-24 for remodeling.
Patrons will not be able to pick up or drop off books. But due dates will be adjusted to reflect the hiatus, the library said in a press release.
The project is designed to make the 1600 Forest Ave. library more user friendly by lowering the stack heights and creating a less cluttered environment. Carpets will be cleaned and the stacks will be rebuilt according to a more efficient floor plan that will include more spaces for children, teens and adults.
The library will reopen at 1 p.m. Aug. 24 and there is an open house scheduled for 5-8 p.m. Aug. 25.
