Michelle Obama is scheduled to visit Maine in late September to attend a pair of fundraising events.
The first lady’s trip was confirmed by Willy Ritch, spokesman for Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, a Democrat representing Maine’s 1st District.
Ritch said Obama is expected to attend a luncheon on Sept. 30 at a private home in Cape Elizabeth and a reception at the Portland Ocean Gateway immediately after.
Pingree is thrilled the first lady is coming to Maine, Ritch said, and will recommend a variety of things for her to do while in the Pine Tree State, though her visit is expected to be brief. The details of the trip were only recently confirmed, he said.
