• Freeport High School athletics will begin presason practices on Monday.

The schedules are as follows: boys’ soccer, 8-11 a.m., soccer field; girls’ soccer, 8 a.m.-noon, soccer field; field hockey, 8-11 a.m., field hockey field; cross country, 5-6:30 p.m., lawn in front of school; golf, 3:30 p.m., Toddy Brook Golf Course, North Yarmouth; cheering, 9-10:30 a.m., lawn in front of school.

Football will have two sessions, 8-10:30 a.m. and 4-6:30 p.m. at Pownal Road Rec Field. Football equipment will be issued Sunday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. at the back door of the school gym.

 

• Gray-New Gloucester High School will begin fall athletics practices on Monday at the following times: cheering, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., track entrance; cross country, 9 to 11 a.m.; field hockey, 8 to 11 a.m.; football, 7 to 9 a.m., practice field, 10 to 11 a.m., weight room, and 5 to 7 p.m.; golf, 6 a.m. at Spring Meadows; boys’ soccer, 7 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.; girls’ soccer, 8 to 10 a.m., 1 to 3 p.m.

A parent information night will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the gym.

Gray-New Gloucester Middle School football will start at 5 p.m. Aug. 22.

 

• Rick Randazzo, the national director of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will lead hockey clinics in Yarmouth and Auburn next week as part of 50 State, 50 Cities: FCA Hockey Across America, a five-year, 50-state tour. Randazzo, who is among the all-time leading scorers at the United States Military Academy, West Point and the winningest hockey coach in Navy history, will spend 30 days in each state.

The clinics are for players and coaches of all ages. The schedule is as follows: 7 p.m. Thursday, North Yarmouth Academy; 8 p.m. Friday, North Yarmouth Academy; 9:30 a.m. Aug. 20, Ingersol Arena.

• The Scarborough Summerfest 5K and 1 mile races will be on Friday at the Scarborough High School athletic complex. A 1-mile race for children 13 and under will start at 6 p.m. followed by the 5K race at 6:30 p.m.
