PALMYRA — A Pittsfield man involved in a crash in Palmyra over the weekend has died.

State police say a car driven by 21-year-old Dennis Moody left the road and struck stand of trees at about 3:50 a.m. on Saturday. Moody suffered serious head and leg injuries.

An Eastern Maine Medical Center spokeswoman told the Bangor Daily News on Sunday night that Moody had died.

Moody’s passenger, 20-year-old Elizabeth Cookson, suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Sebasticook Valley Hospital.

Police say open alcohol containers were found in the vehicle and troopers are investigating whether alcohol was a factor. It does not appear speed was a factor.
