Sebago Lake State Park in Casco will open this weekend for camping and day use, officials at the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands announced today.

Officials said that sufficient progress has been made in a park clean-up after Tropical Storm Irene to warrant a staggered opening for Labor Day weekend.

“We’re very pleased that the hard work has paid off, and the Sebago Lake State Park campground and day-use area will be open for the long Labor Day weekend,” said Will Harris, BPL director. “We hope people will come out and enjoy their Labor Day weekend with us.”

The Naples area campground, including Naples Beach and Witch Cove Beach, will open for reserved and non-reserved sites at 1 p.m. Friday. All campers with reservations between now and the weekend should check on their reservations by calling: Sebago Lake booth, (207) 693-6613; or the BPL Reservations Office, open 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday and Friday, at 800-332-1501 or (207) 624-9950.

The Casco day-use area will open at 9 a.m. Saturday.
