STANDISH – Dr. Joseph Lee, president of St. Joseph’s College in Standish, has announced his resignation to the college community.

Lee was appointed president of St. Joseph’s College in 2007 after coming to the college in 2005 as vice president of enrollment management. For the last three years, Lee helped shape a strategic plan geared toward greater marketing of the college, including branding and advertising.

In announcing his resignation on Tuesday, Lee said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years at the college but after a summer of soul searching, I have come to the conclusion that the time is right for me to step down before a new academic year. This will afford me more time to be with family and friends, especially my three sons. I wish the college enormous success as it prepares for its 100th birthday celebration.”

Claire Bowen, chairwoman of the board of St. Joseph’s College, said, “As a board member and now as chair, I have enjoyed working with Dr. Lee who has had a strong interest in advancing academic opportunities for the students at the college. On behalf of the board, I thank Joe for his six years of leadership to the college and wish him every success in his future.”
